WINTERTON BASS FISHING COMPETITION

RULES & REGULATIONS

  1. All anglers must familiarise themselves with and adhere to the rules of the competition. Failure to comply with any of the rules will result in immediate disqualification.
  2. Entries will only be processed once payment has been received and confirmed.
  3. Official ID wristbands must be worn by all anglers at all times to avoid disqualification.
  4. All anglers must collect their ID wristbands from Dam 1 (Fairview Dam):
    a. Between 15:00 and 19:00 on 3 October 2026, OR
    b. From 05:00 on the morning of the competition.
  5. Anglers may enter and register on the day at Dam 1 (Fairview Dam) from 05:00.
  6. Pre-entries close on Friday, 25 September 2026.
  7. Only artificial lures may be used.
  8. Only live fish with the mouth closed will be measured.
  9. All fish must be released immediately after measuring.
  10. The decision of the competition officials is final.
  11. Fishing will be permitted from the shore, canoes and boats equipped with a sneaker motor, as specified for each dam.
  12. The dams have been kindly made available by private landowners for this day ONLY. Anglers are required to respect the property, privacy and rules of the landowners at all times.
  13. All anglers must respect and be considerate of their fellow anglers.
  14. Each angler may win only ONE 1st-place Adult prize and ONE 1st-place Junior prize.
  15. Power boats may only be operated using a sneaker motor. If boats are used, all junior anglers must wear a life jacket at all times.
  16. The longest Adult fish will win the Adult prize, and the longest Junior fish will win the Junior prize, regardless of whether the Junior fish is longer than the winning Adult fish.
  17. Fishing starts at 05:30. The final fish must be presented for measurement by 16:00.
  18. Both Adults and Juniors compete for the one overall main prize, which will be awarded to the angler who catches the longest bass of the day.
  19. In the event of a tie, the winner will be determined by a draw between the tied anglers.
  20. If no fish are caught at a particular dam, the applicable prize will be added to the lucky draw.
  21. To qualify for the lucky draw, the angler must be present at the prize-giving ceremony and be in possession of their official ID wristband.
  22. If a dam has not been fished by 14:00, the competition committee reserves the right to close that dam.
  23. Food and refreshments will be available at Dam 1 (Fairview Dam).
  24. Toilet facilities will be available at Dam 1 (Fairview Dam).
  25. In accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), Act 4 of 2013, by signing this form, you consent to Winterton Lutheran Church processing the personal information supplied on this form. You further consent to photographs taken during the event being used on the church’s social media platforms and for future marketing purposes. All personal information and photographs will be handled in accordance with the applicable POPIA requirements and the Winterton Lutheran Church privacy policy.
  26. No pets are allowed at the competition or on any of the participating properties on the day.
  27. No alcohol may be brought onto the competition premises. All alcohol consumed on the day must be purchased from the Fishing Competition organisers.
